Reading is the most common way to educate one self. Though there are many ways to educate people, it is still best to have a proper education through studying in schools and universities. However, personal experience plays an important role in practicing what you have learnt through reading. Like in cooking, you will get to improve your cooking skills if you are hands on with the task regularly. This improved skill may lead to other discoveries such as learning through smell, taste, and by simply looking at the cooked ingredients.
This is how you can visualize that a learning may come only from one simple reading skill and is then enlarged through different methods of learning out from it. This is also how you can become a functional literate as you are able to understand what you read due to these hands on activities. A person that reads a lot is more likely to learn a lot of things compared to a person that seldom reads book. Yet it does not stop at reading since constant practice will train you to be productive in this society.
Perhaps, reading is the foundation of knowledge and knowledge through education helps us become successful in life. Through education we can get what we want in life such as a high paying job, beautiful house, and luxurious cars. It will depend on how we educate ourselves and apply what we have learned from school and from personal experiences. It is not impossible to get what we want in life but we need to learn in different ways to be productive and successful. If we disregard going to school we limit ourselves for the good things that may come from education. It is not wise to stay idle and do nothing if we want to have a better life in the future.

Education was their foundation to greatness. Schooling was their first step and then they went off from there. These are factual examples of people who invested time and energy educating themselves through reading. In addition, personal experiences made them great individuals as they are able to apply what they have learned through their readings. These individuals had contributed a lot to the betterment of the society because they value education. So if it is success that we want, we should start educating ourselves and acquire as much learning as we can to be best equipped for what lies ahead.
