If you are local to the Purdue Calumet campus and have a career account there, you may obtain a Purdue Certificate Authority X.509 user certificate by filling out a form and meeting personally with Doug Sharp (sharpdp@calumet.purdue.edu). You will then receive a link via email to a Purdue website where you may login using your career account and receive your user certificate. This certificate may then be used to submit jobs to NWICG and/or OSG.
Here is the whole process:
-
Arrange to meet briefly with Doug Sharp and bring photo ID.
This must be a face-to-face meeting.
Doug will verify your ID and form data in person.
Doug will forward your verified form to Matt Lundmark (
lundmark@purdue.edu) and digitally sign this email with his user certificate.
Matt Lundmark will review the form and create a user certificate on a secure web server.
Matt will email you a link to their new user certificate on the secure web server.\\You must login using your Purdue career account to access this.
You then download you user certificate and transfer this file to the machine(s) you will be using to submit jobs or a common home directory. You should save these files in your home directory, under the subdirectory “.globus“, which you may have to create. Your certificate will be composed of two files, “userkey.pem” and “usercert.pem“.
Finally, secure your new certificate by assigning a passphrase to it and restricting the Unix permissions:
grid-change-pass-phrase
chmod -R g=,o= ~/.globus
